Since 1999, Jon has been active as a teacher in addition to his career as a performer. He’s taken the knowledge he’s learned from all of his teachers, plus his added experience of performing throughout the United States and Europe to share with his select group of students. He has been a guest artist and clinician with high schools and universities throughout the country.
His current students range from teens through retirees, intermediate throughout advanced in both Classical and Jazz. Many of his students choose Jon to help them complete their long held desire to learn an instrument and decide that now is the time. Jon is currently writing a book that focuses on teaching classicaly trained pianists how to play Jazz and other popular styles.
Lessons focus on establish a solid base of playing including proper technique, scales, music theory, harmony, sight-reading, musicality and repertoire. Jon frequently “plays along” with students to aid in the learning process.
